About the EDC

 

Entrepreneurship Development Cell started its functioning from 1st January, 2008, with Sri G. Suresh Kumar, Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering, as its Coordinator. Also an advisory body is constituted with some of the faculty members of the college as members to help the coordinator in effective functioning of the cell.

 

The objectives spelt for the Cell are:

To arrange Entrepreneurship Awareness Programmes (EAPs) periodically to the Third and Final year students of GPREC in collaboration with the concerned organizations.

To disseminate the information gathered, about the procedure of setting up of enterprises, and financial help available, to the students of the college.

To provide the information about some viable projects to the interested students.

To plan any other program that will be of use to the budding entrepreneurs, fresh from the college.
Encouraging students of the college to think for innovative business/ product ideas through Innovations Club.

In accordance with the objectives set as above, the cell has been active in organizing various programs to promote entrepreneurship with advises and help of the advisory body.

Entrepreneurship Awareness Programs (EAPs) are organized to the students of the college in association with District Industries Center ( DIC ), and Andhra Pradesh Industrial and Technical Consultancy ( APITCO ), Kurnool, periodically. Besides, Entrepreneurship Development is offered as an open elective for the students in their curriculum, which is opt by students of some departments.

 

MILE STONES CROSSED BY EDC IN ITS JOURNEY SO FAR:

 

An Innovations Club has been active under EDC since 15 / 02 / 2012

AICTE has sanctioned Rs. 5,00,000/- under EDC scheme to GPREC, out of which, Rs. 3,00,000/- has been released.

The EDC has signed an MOU with DIC, Kurnool, for the cause of Entrepreneurship Development.

 

 

ACTIVITIES OF THE CELL SINCE ITS INCEPTION:

A one day EAP is organized for all the final B.Tech. and II MCA students in association with DIC, and APITCO, Kurnool, on 8th February, 2008 in PNSR Kalyana Mandapam, located on the campus of the college.

Entrepreneurship motivation classes are taken by the coordinator to III / I B.Tech and II MCA students separately, during August, 2008

A one day EAP is organized for all the III B.Tech. II Semester and II MCA students in association with DIC, and APITCO, Kurnool, on 24th December, 2008 in Seminar Gallery-2, located in the campus of the college.

An invited talk on Global Recession – Career Planning to the III B. Tech. students by Mr. K. Ramanjaneyulu, Executive of HPCL on 18th February, 2009.

A one day Awareness Program on Entrepreneurship Development is organized for the faculty of outside professional colleges in association with DIC, and APITCO, Kurnool, on 9th January, 2010 in Seminar Gallery-2, located in the campus of the college.

A Three- day EAP is organized for all the III B.Tech. II Semester and II MCA students in association with DIC, and APITCO, Kurnool, during 9th, 11th and 12th December, 2010 in Seminar Gallery-2, located in the campus of the college.

Entrepreneurship motivation classes are taken by the coordinator to III B.Tech students on 13 / 12 / 2010 and on 08 / 01 / 2011

An Innovations Club is started in the College during 2011-12, for students to think for innovative ideas. In that connection, an interaction / seminar is arranged with Mr. Ravi Kumar M., an Alumnus of IIM, Ahmedabad, on 15 / 02 / 2012. He asked the students attended to form into groups and to mail their Business / innovative ideas to him. Accordingly, students responded
and one better proposal ( group ), as felt by him, was chosen. He has offered them a stipend of Rs. 1500/- each and they‘ve taken up a project titled “Automatic Cattle Feed System”.

Another team from III year B.Tech. is selected during 2012-13 to continue the above project under Innovations Club from the stage the previous team left it. The previous team ceased working on it, as it was their final year.

An interaction section is organized on 12-09-2012 as part of Innovations Club activities.

A one day Awareness Program on Entrepreneurship Development is organized for the 3rd B.Tech students of GPREC, in association with DIC, and APITCO, Kurnool, on 22nd January, 2013 in Seminar Gallery-2 of the college. General Manager and Assistant Director from DIC Kurnool and Regional Officer from APITCO, Kurnool took the sessions.

A guest lecture on “Investor Education and Opportunities” was organized on 22-03-2013. CMA Sri A.S. Nageswara Rao, Managing Committee member, Chairman – Coaching Administration Committee, ACAI – Hyderabad Chapter, addressed the students.

The Coordinator, along with Three III B. Tech. students viz., Mr. B. Ravi Chandra Reddy ( ME ), Mr. N. Sunil Babu( ECE ), & Mr. Akhil Reddy( EEE ) went to Hyderabad to attend 3rd GRASS ROOTS INNOVATORS MEET WITH STUDENTS on 24 / 03 / 2013 organized by PALLE SRUJANA, & HONEYBEE AP network, where they could interact with nearly 25 innovators

ACTIVITIES ENVISAGED FOR THE NEXT 2 YEARS:

Continuing the organizing of EAPs periodically ( at least one for a batch ), would like to make it ( the cell ) a hub for Entrepreneurship Development by taking up various relevant activities.

To identify potential students at II year B. Tech. level who has flair towards entrepreneurial careers, and focus to nurture them to start an enterprise of their own after completion of their graduation.

To bring successful entrepreneurs to the campus and arrange interactions for the students with them so that the students can have pragmatic view of entrepreneurship.

To interact with various Government and private agencies that are working for the cause of Entrepreneurship Development, and get the information about possible help by them to the budding technocrats. The same will be kept with and disseminated among the interested students of the college.

To promote Innovative thinking for business ideas among students of GPREC so as to help the society with better products / services.
