The college has established Research and Development (R&D) cell in the year 2008. To facilitate all the Research & Development activities among students and faculty members, the R & D cell is functional and is being steered by Dr. T. Brahmananda Reddy, Professor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department and active representatives from each department.

The main aims and objectives are:

Aims:

To create research awareness among the faculty and students
To enhance team work between researchers for interdisciplinary research
To establish links with different Industries, R&D organizations, which provide funding for research activities
To work towards the development of the college in order to establish the college as an R&D centre Objectives:
To involve the every faculty member in R&D activities, which lead to Ph.D. degree and research proposal writing.
To enhance the research awareness by conducting various national level and international level workshops and conferences and guest lectures.
To establish the fruitful collaboration and interaction with researchers working on interdisciplinary research

R & D Activities:

In order to visualize the aims and objectives, the R&D cell is encouraging the faculty to submit their research proposals to the AICTE, DST, UGC and other funding agencies. The following are the list of the completed/ongoing projects, which are sponsored by the AICTE and UGC.

Moreover, the college is encouraging the faculty members towards the R&D activities by proving the funding for research projects under In-House project scheme. The interested faculty members can avail this facility.
The faculty members have published many research papers in peer reviewed National and International journals and proceedings of conferences in every year.
In order to encourage the students towards the research activities, the college is providing the funding for the fabrication projects.

Incentives For Faculty:

The college is sanctioning the cash incentives for the publication of research papers in various National and International journals and conferences, which vary between Rs.500/- Rs.6,000/- depending upon the quality and level of the paper.
The college is giving the compensation towards the TA, DA and Registration fee for attending the academic related activities like workshops/conferences. This vary from Rs. 2,000/- to Rs.5,500/-.

For Students:

The college is giving one way travelling fare for the students, who got the prizes in various conferences/workshops.

UGC Major Project:

International Journals:

For the paper published in IEEE or IEE or ASCE or ASME the cash incentive will be Rs. 20,000/-.
For the paper published in Scopus listed Journals cash incentive will be Rs. 75,000/-.
For the paper published in Thomson Reuters listed journals (available at http://ip- science. thomsonreuters.com/cgi-bin/jrnlst/jloptions.cgi?PC=D) the cash incentive will be Rs. 10,000/-.

International Conferences:

Any International conference by name will be treated as International Conference in true sense, if it is organized by well known societies like IEEE, IEE, ASCE, ASME, Elsevier, etc.

If the international conference is organized by any reputed societies or any reputed institutes (like IITs, IISc, NITs, etc.), then the cash incentive for publishing the paper in this type of conference will be Rs. 2000/-.
If the international conference is organized by any reputed organizations (like deemed universities, private organizations), then the cash incentive for publishing the paper in this type of conference will be Rs. 1500/-.

National Journals:

Any National Journal by Title will be treated as National Journal in true sense, if it has minimum age of 5 years and has the policy of announcing Impact Factor. This criterion can be relaxed if the Journal is published by reputed society like IE(I), IETE, CSI, etc;

If the national journal is peer-reviewed, containing ISSN number, making the basic comments of reviewers available to authors and also the journal is brought out in the form of hard copy, then the cash incentive for publishing the paper in this type of journal will be Rs. 1500/-.

National Conference:

If the national conference is organized by any reputed societies or any reputed institutes (like IITs, IISc, NITs, etc.), then the cash incentive for publishing the paper in this type of conference will be Rs. 1000/-.
If the national conference is organized by any reputed organizations (like deemed universities, private organizations), then the cash incentive for publishing the paper in this type of conference will be Rs. 500/-.

General Information:

Any claim for monetary incentive for publishing a research paper must be accompanied by two hard copies of the published paper along with the reviewer comments if available.
Any publication with more than four authors is not eligible for incentives.
Only those papers, where the author’s affiliation belongs to the college (i.e. GPREC) will be eligible for incentive.
Papers published in journals, which are available only on-line are not eligible for incentives.
If the first author is from GPREC, then the author will be entitled for full cash incentive.
If the second author is from GPREC, then the author will be eligible for only 50% of cash incentive.
The papers published based on dissertation work by M.Tech students are not eligible for any cash incentive.

APSSDC-Siemens (t-SDI):

The college has been sanctioned with SIEMENS technical Skill Development Institute (t-SDI) of APSSDC (Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation). As a part of this APSSDC has supplied equipment worth 2 crores and the following labs were established.
1. Design CBT
2. Electronics Office/Home
3. Welding Lab and
4. CNC Machine lab
The college has invested an amount of Rs25 lakhs to create the necessary infrastructure for the establishment of these labs.
